Hotel De Rome

Nestled within a neoclassical 19th-century bank, you’ll find this luxurious Rocco Forte establishment in the prestigious Bebelplatz, at the very core of historic East Berlin.

Knowing that first impressions are everything, a contemporary flair infuses the impressive lobby, which comes adorned with plush black velvet sofas, striking red-lacquer vases, whimsical globe lights and a charming pink neon birdcage, which elsewhere echoes of the building's illustrious past resonate in its elegant marble columns, skylights and ornate iron staircase. We’re also particularly big fans of the transformed pool area, which was once the bank's prized vault.

What’s more, opulent suites come complete with a plethora of privileges, from personalised concierge services to in-room entertainment and the convenience of a bespoke Rocco Forte Nourish mini-bar upon request.

The Ritz Carlton Berlin

Following a 40 million Euro renovation back in 2019, The Ritz Carlton Berlin is one of the most attractive hotels in the city. While the Deluxe Rooms, starting at the entry level, offer ample space (they measure an impressive 430 square feet), for breathtaking vistas of Potsdamer Platz, it's worth considering an upgrade to the Deluxe View Room – you won’t regret it.

Taking pride of place in the the vibrant heart of Potsdamer Platz, the hotel is also conveniently located within a leisurely stroll to prominent landmarks such as the Holocaust Memorial, the iconic Brandenburg Gate and the sprawling 519 acres of tree-lined paths and blooming gardens in Tiergarten park.

Hotel Oderberger

Berlin has a habit of converting stunning old buildings into lavish hotels, and Hotel Oderberger is no exception. What was once a 19th-century public bathhouse is now a 70-key boutique hotel just a ten-minute stroll to Mauerpark and complete with a great three-level restaurant serving up modern and seasonal German cuisine. While you might have to stand in line with locals to take a dip, its 20m indoor pool with vaulted ceiling is particularly impressive.

Myers Hotel Berlin

One for those with discerning tastes, Myer's Hotel adds an extra touch of allure to the Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood with its lavish 19th-century ambiance and reasonable rates.

Seamlessly blending opulence with accessibility, step into a bygone era within exquisitely adorned interiors featuring meticulously crafted replicas of classical furniture, parquet flooring and an English-style tearoom. While rooms may be simple, they more than do the job, and what’s more, after a long day of sightseeing, there’s no better way to unwind than by enjoying a spa treatment in the basement vault or soaking up the sun in the tranquil gardens.

Hotel am Steinplatz

Fancy sleeping under the same roof as the likes of Vladimir Nabokov, Brigitte Bardot and Alain Delon did back in the day? Of course you do. Established in 1913 in the upscale neighbourhood of Charlottenburg, this luxury hotel may now be part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, but it still retains its Art Nouveau charm with distinctive flourishes like a graceful canopy adorning the entrance, Moorish-style arched windows and intricate stucco detailing throughout, ensuring a harmonious fusion of past and present.

Its luxurious boutique ambiance and prime location, just a brief stroll from the famed shops lining Kurfürstendamm and the Berlin Zoo, simply seal the deal.

Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Boasting some of the biggest rooms in Berlin (they start at 452 square feet), the Berlin counterpart of the renowned Waldorf Astoria New York most certainly lives up to expectations.

Located within an elegant skyscraper in the heart of City West, just moments away from the prestigious Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm) shopping boulevard, every room features expansive marble bathrooms equipped with separate tubs and showers, but if you’re feeling flush then the Tower Suites, which span floors 22 to 30 and are reached via a dedicated elevator, unveil breathtaking panoramic views that make them a worthwhile indulgence. For the ultimate lavish retreat, the sprawling Presidential Suite on the 31st floor offers unparalleled opulence complete with a grand piano, an inviting open fireplace and two balconies, all complemented by sweeping vistas of the city from every vantage point. Big birthday treat, anyone?

Wilmina

Wilmina had been 11 years in the making when it opened its doors in April 2022, but it was more than worth the wait. A former courthouse and prison, original details including cell doors and window bars remain (albeit in a lighter, more tasteful space), while the addition of a rooftop pool, attic sauna, secret courtyards and well-sized rooms make it a great shout for anyone looking for a retreat of rest and relaxation.
