A gatekeeper is usually a Director's Personal Assistant, who will screen calls for their employer making it difficult or impossible for a salesperson to reach that Director. However, knowing the skills needed to reach a more senior person is useful when you want to circumnavigate a call centre operator and speak to a manager or are having customer service issues in a retail outlet or restaurant.
